The Hôtel des Invalides was founded by King Louis XIV to shelter and care for 7.000 invalids and veterans in recognition of the sacrifices made by the soldiers who fought in his wars.

With its great extension, it embraces the sphere, revealing its role as a protective building and fortress to protect against any weather or human cruelty.
